Wright Square Bistro

SUMMARY:

Wright Square Cafe had been an 18 year Savannah staple when I started  working there as a barista in 2018 while attending SCAD. When Tod and Michael took over in 2021, that routine job evolved into a hands-on creative opportunity to transform the space from an aging coffee shop into Wright Square Bistro. Working closely with both of them, we built an atmosphere rooted entirely in their personal tastes, hospitality, and dedication

to the craft. I was a sponge and learned all that I could, working

alongside them to bring WSB to life.

The Bistro came together through attention to all of the details, bridging hands-on buildout with day-to-day guest experience. Everything in there had a story. Michael's restored barn wood tables and local sourcing partnerships; Tod's fresh florals, vintage collections, and meticulous plate presentations, those are only a few. My part was to help visually merchandise the space. I got to take on physical fabrication and environmental styling - balancing front-of-house customer service with furniture restoration and painting, hand-lettering chalkboard menu signage, even transforming the chocolate display by putting custom cut mirrors into antique gold frames. From Michael's champion Corgis and their menu tributes, to the live plant installation still thriving in the floor-to-ceiling windows today, every

element had an authentic reason for being there.

This cohesive atmosphere helped Wright Square Bistro earn South Magazine's Top 5 ranking and the #1 spot on TripAdvisor in Savannah.
