OUT OF THE FIRE EXHIBIT
SCAD 2022

Tiles created from oil-based clay, cast in plaster to create two / three part molds. Tiles then slip cast, molded, under + overglazed, and applied to custom cut mirror (Thank you Rick's Glass!) using charcoal grout.

Awarded Best Sculptural Work for the 2022 exhibit,  Out Of The Fire at the Savannah College Of Art and Design. Installation located in Anderson Hall 

 

Some people only really face themselves when looking in the mirror; You can hide behind a mask from everyone but yourself

THE PROCESS

Mold making, casting, glazing and mounting process of mirror frame tile castings can be seen below. I learned how to work with grout while building this… My advice - if you’re avoiding black cuticles and a mess do not consider charcoal grout for your designs
